More than 80%of the employment related issues were resolved after the inclusion of the mediation centre within the Ministry of Employment.
This was revealed by Minister for Employment Jone Usamate when National Federation Party leader Biman Prasad asked him to highlight how effective mediation has been for the country.
Usamate says that since 2008 after the mediation regulation was put in place, it has allowed them to stop twenty potential strikes in the country.
He highlights that between 2003 and 2007, 60 work strikes were noted.
The Minister says that the employers now practice a much better way of resolving conflicts and it is noticed that disputes that lead to strikes have decreased.
