New Zealand’s Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully said his talks with Ratu Inoke Kabuabola will focus on foreign policy, regional issues and Fiji's preparations for elections on September 17.
McCully is expected to arrive in Nadi today.
He said it is an opportunity to get Fiji's perspective on the work that is going into preparing for the ballot, and whether there are further areas where New Zealand can assist.
McCully said New Zealand has so far provided technical assistance for the elections process, totalling $1.5 million, and contributed another $1.5 million towards a project aimed at re-establishing and strengthening Fiji's parliament.
This will be McCully’s second visit to Fiji since New Zealand lifted its remaining travel sanctions against Fiji in March.
