Education Minister, Doctor Mahendra Reddy confirms that they are currently exploring plans to have Maths as a compulsory subject in schools.
Doctor Reddy says this is just a plan at this stage and will definitely not be implemented this year.
He says it may be considered for next year but this will be implemented from the lower level.
Doctor Reddy also says the system to total all the marks will also change from this year.
He says the system will no longer be English and best 3 subject marks.
Doctor Reddy says all the raw marks will be given and the education institutions and employers can make decisions based on all the marks attained by the students.
