The man who drove a car into a busy restaurant near Paris has been identified as an unemployed security guard.
32-year-old David Patterson, drove his grey BMW into a pizza restaurant, killing a 12‑year‑old girl and leaving 13 others severely injured.
Patterson, who is thought to have links to Britain, has reportedly told police he is a ‘manic depressive’ who ‘simply wanted to commit suicide’.
Officers investigating the incident 40 miles east of the French capital have ruled out terrorism as a possible motive.
One victim of the incident, a 44‑year‑old woman, is in intensive care in a condition described as ‘extremely serious’.
Patterson was arrested moments after the incident on suspicion of murder and driving under the influence of drugs.
