Man who allegedly raped his 10yr old cousin appears in court

A 21-year-old man who allegedly raped his 10-year-old cousin in 2010 appeared in the Suva High Court today.

The man is charged with one count of rape and one count of sexual assault.

Legal Aid lawyer Talei Kean has made a submission in court that the accused be declared a juvenile as he was 15 years old during the time of the alleged incident.

The victim was four years old during the time of the alleged incident.

The alleged incidents occurred from the 1st of February to the 30th of June, 2010 in Nasinu.

Justice Achala Wengappuli will deliver his ruling on the 11th of next month.
