A 43-year-old man pleaded not guilty to count of act with intent to cause grievous harm before Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe.
It is alleged that the man had burnt his 40-year-old wife with a hot electrical iron on the 26th of March this year in Nasinu.
State lawyer Shirley Tivao informed the court that there are admissions in his caution interview statement.
Justice Rajasinghe has adjourned the matter to 2.30pm this afternoon to decide whether the case should stay in the High Court or be sent back to the Magistrates Court.
