A Kadavu man who was unanimously found guilty of three counts of rape by the three assessors has been acquitted by the Suva High Court Judge, Justice Janaka Bandara this morning.
This is after Justice Bandara overturned the decision by the assessors and found the man not guilty.
The man on the 29th of May, 2010 was charged for allegedly raping a student inside a computer lab in Kadavu.
In his judgement, Justice Bandara said he is not inclined to accept the student’s version as true and convincible.
Judge Bandara said there is a clear contradiction between two prosecution witnesses as to how the whole episode initiated.
