The 28-year-old man who allegedly murdered his defacto wife last month has been refused bail by the Suva High Court this morning.
Usaia Kilaiverata who appeared before High Court Judge Justice Priyantha Fernando has been further remanded.
The State lawyer highlighted that Kilaiverata is highly likely to abscond bail and is a flight risk.
The Court heard that Kilaiverata’s previous partner and children live in New Zealand.
It is alleged that Kilaiverata assaulted 32-year-old Losana McGowan during a heated argument after returning from clubbing at about 3am in Suva early last month.
Police said she fell and hit her head on the concrete floor.
Kilaiverata has been remanded in custody till the 5th of next month for mention.
