A 26-year-old man of Nausori who was found guilty of sexually assaulting his 10 year old niece on the 14th November, two years ago has been sentenced to 4 years imprisonment.
In a judgement delivered last Wednesday, the man was found not guilty of raping the complainant, however the court found him guilty of an alternative charge.
Presiding Judge in the case, Justice Salesi Temo said that the aggravating factor was the breach of trust as the man an uncle to the victim and was supposed to look after her and care for her.
Judge Temo said the man abused the trust she had in him and secretly sexually assaulted the child.
