A 30-year-old man has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the Labasa High Court for raping his wife.
The man pleaded guilty to a count each of breaching a domestic violence restraining order and rape.
Judge Justice Vinsent Perera while delivering the sentence stated that the man threatened his wife to withdraw her complaint or else he would chop her, hang their daughter and hang himself or surrender to the police.
The man had raped his wife between the 22nd and the 24th of September last year in Labasa.
A non-parole period of seven years and six months has been set.
