A former employee of a printery company in Suva was produced at the Suva Magistrates Court for obtaining financial advantage and has been remanded in custody.
Pranesh Kumar appeared before Magistrate Liyanage Wick-rama-sekara and failed to produce two sureties for bail.
Kumar is charged by Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption for two counts of obtaining a financial advantage .
FICAC Counsel, Laite Bokini Ratu appeared for Prosecution and informed the court that first phase disclosures have been served to Kumar.
It is alleged that Kumar filled cheque numbers that belonged to the Fijian Government before falsifying signatures on the same cheques.
He allegedly cashed the same cheques and obtained a financial advantage of $5100.00 knowing that he was not eligible to receive the said amount.
The alleged incident happened in 2016.
The matter will be called again today to check on the sureties.
