Man pleads not guilty to five counts of rape

A man has denied in the Suva High Court that he raped a girl under the age of 13 years in a village in Naitasiri.

He pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe today.

The man and the girl are from the same village.

He allegedly raped the girl between 1^st January 2016 to 31^st December 2016 and also between 1^st January 2017 and 31^st December 2017.

The trial has been set from 2^nd to 3^rd December this year.

The complainant, her aunt, uncle and grandfather will take the witness stand for the prosecution.

The accused will also be a defence witness.

The case has been adjourned to 14^th August this year.
