A man charged with the murder of a 46‑year‑old fisherman of Lokia Landing in Nausori has been sentenced to nine years and seven months imprisonment for one count of aggravated robbery.
Waisea Motonivalu had pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated robbery.
However, Motonivalu had pleaded not guilty to his other charge of murder.
Another two people Eroni Raivani and Niko Baleiwairiki were also charged with one count of murder and one count of aggravated robbery and they pleaded not guilty to both charges.
It is alleged that the three men brutally assaulted the fisherman before stealing a 15hp Yamaha outboard engine earlier this year.
