57‑year‑old Mohammed Yasin has been sentenced to life in prison for murdering his wif in Ba

A 57‑year‑old man charged with the murder of his wife has been sentenced to life imprisonment by High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo.

Mohammed Yasin has to serve 18 years in jail before a presidential pardon may be considered.

The incident occurred on 16th November, 2014.

Yasin was convicted for one count of murder after he stabbed his wife with a kitchen knife in Ba.

While delivering his sentence, Justice Temo told Yasin that he was married for 26 years, had two daughters and a son and worked as a taxi driver.

He said that Yasin and his wife were happily married but in 2014 their marriage took a turn and Yasin would have arguments with his wife and this led her to place a Domestic Violence Restraining Order against him.

Yasin and his wife got separated in March 2014.

Justice Temo stated that on 16th November 2014, Yasin’s wife visited his mother and he got angry.

He then stabbed her to death.
