A man convicted for Attempt to Murder of his defacto partner four years ago in Lautoka has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
In September 2012, Mohammed Shaheen stabbed the complainant in Lautoka City following a dispute.
He was arrested with the help of a bystander.
While sentencing Mohammed Shaheen, Lautoka High Court Judge Justice Priyantha Fernando highlighted that the aggravating factors in this case are that the man used a kitchen knife to commit the offence and the nature of the stab injuries.
It is a domestic violence offence as the victim was his defacto partner.
He will have to serve the minimum of eight years before being considered for pardon.
