A 39-year-old man convicted of one count of Aggravated Robbery has been sentenced to 11 years and four months imprisonment.
The court was told that on 15th August last year, Senijieli Boila with three others robbed two people of $50,000 in Nadi which was the property of City Forex Fiji Limited.
Lautoka High Court Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe highlighted that it appeared that Boila and his accomplices planned this crime and waited for the moment where the victims were not in a position to alarm or seek assistance then carried out their criminal plan without any respect to the law and order of the country.
Justice Rajasinghe further said the main purpose of this sentencing is founded on the principles of deterrence and the protection of the community in order to deter the offenders and other persons from committing offences of this nature.
Boila will be eligible for parole after spending nine years behind bars.
