A 26-year-old man who raped and sexually assaulted a six-year-old girl in Nasinu earlier this year will spend the next ten years behind bars.
The 26-year-old man pleaded guilty to the charges.
The court heard that the 6-year-old girl was at home with her grandmother when the 26-year-old walked past her house and invited her to his house.
The victim went to his house where the incident happened.
Suva High court Judge Justice Paul Madigan sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment for the rape charge and seven years for the charge of sexual assault.
The sentences will be served concurrently.
He will be eligible for parole after eight years.
