A 25-year-old man who had pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter has escaped a prison sentence.
The court was told that Kavaia Nakau-ciri drove a forklift in a dangerous manner which caused the death of a man in Walu Bay on 24th June last year.
The court was told that Nakau-ciri wanted to drive the forklift although he had not driven a forklift before and was also not authorised to drive it.
High Court Judge Justice Priyantha Fernando took into consideration that Nakauciri pleaded guilty to the charge and was remorseful.
The Judge also took into consideration that he will be graduating from a University this December.
