The accused in the 2013 rape trial, 38‑year‑old Nitendra Prasad Bilash says that there was no time to carry out the sexual assault on the 16-year-old girl after he returned home from work.
It is alleged that Bilash from Nabua raped a 16‑year‑old girl at his residence in Nabua on 22nd July, 2013.
Bilash told the court that he was in the sitting room with his daughter and the 16-year-old girl when he returned from work at around 4.30pm on the day of the alleged incident.
Bilash said that at around 5pm, the girl’s mother came to pick her and he paid her $7.00 since the 16-year-old looked after Bilash’s 10-year-old daughter who was sick and did not go to school.
It is alleged that the incident occurred when Bilash’s daughter was having her shower.
Bilash told the court that his daughter went to have a shower after the 16-year-old girl left with her mother.
He said that the girl’s mother called him at around 8.30pm and asked him why he wanted to rape her daughter.
Bilash said that he did not do anything and they can do whatever they want to do.
The trial continues before Justice Vincent Parera.
