A man convicted of perjury has been sentenced to three months imprisonment by the Suva Magistrates Court today.

Jagan Nath in a judicial proceeding willfully made a statement in the Oath of Administrators that was material to the judicial proceedings which to their knowledge was false on 25th November 2008 in Suva.

Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage said the evidence revealed that Nath willfully made a statement that his deceased brother had only one son knowing it to be false in the probate proceedings.

He adds that Nath has suppressed the rights of other heirs to the state and that it was a deliberate and planned disturbance to the administration of justice.
