A man charged with offences under the Electoral Act has been granted bail by Suva Magistrate Liyanage Wickramasekara.
Rajnil Pratap Sobha has been charged by FICAC with a count each of false declaration on an application for voter registration, false declaration on an application for replacement of electronic voter registration card and applying to be registered as a voter on more than one occasion.
It is alleged that Sobha made a false declaration by filling a voter registration form as Rajneel Malhotra with a false date of birth on 18th July 2016 in Ba.
It is further alleged that Sobha filled the replacement of electronic voter registration card form with the name Rajneel Mahlotra with a false date of birth on 10th June 2017 in Nadi.
It is also alleged that Sobha applied to be registered as a voter under the name Rajnil Pratap Sobha whilst having been registered as Rajneel Rajiv Mahlotra.
Magistrate Wickramasekara has granted Sobha bail in the sum of $3000 with one surety who has signed a surety bond of $2,000.
The Magistrate has also issued a stop departure order against Sobha.
The case has been adjourned to the 26th of this month for mention.
