A man charged with one count each of manslaughter, dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and driving under the influence of alcohol has appeared in the Suva High Court today.
It is alleged that Ratu Semi Kabakaba Degei on the 24th of August last year under the influence of alcohol drove in a reckless manner on Nakasi Road and caused serious harm to a man causing his death.
He also allegedly drove through Nakasi Road and hit a woman on the same day while drunk and caused her injuries.
The prosecution lawyer has told Justice Daniel Goundar that the woman who survived the accident is ready to give her statement in court.
The case has been adjourned to the 22nd of March.
The man's bail has been extended.
