A man who is charged with a count of aggravated robbery and has 41 previous convictions asked the Suva High Court today to release him on bail as he is the sole bread winner of his family.
Saula Vunivesi and another man allegedly grabbed and assaulted a man outside Happy Garden Restaurant in Nabua, and stole $100 cash and a mobile phone valued at $300.
The matter is being tried in the High Court because Vunivesi is a habitual offender.
According to the Office of the DPP, he has 41 previous convictions out of which 9 are within 10 years.
The State has objected to bail.
Meanwhile Police are still searching for Sakaraia Vunisuwai who is on bench warrant since November 2016.
Vunisuwai is also charged with a count of aggravated robbery.
