A 21‑year‑old man who is charged with 3 counts of defilement has pleaded not guilty to two counts of defilement and pleaded guilty to one count of defilement.
The victim in the case is the 15‑year‑old aunt of the accused.
However, his counsel informed Judge, Justice Daniel Goundar that their instructions were that the man will plead not guilty to all charges.
Justice Goundar says he will not accept the man’s guilty plea since there was contradicting instructions and given time to the defence to consult the man in regards to his plea.
It was heard in court today as a result of the alleged incidents, the girl had become pregnant and gave birth.
The alleged incidents happened between 2016 and 2017 at the complainants home in Nasinu.
The man has been released on bail and the case has been adjourned till the 8th of next month.
