A 30-year-old man who allegedly attempted to rape an eight-year-old girl in Savusavu has been charged with one count of attempted rape.
Fijivillage has received information that the man allegedly attempted to rape the girl in broad daylight behind a supermarket in Savusavu Town.
Meanwhile, Police Chief of Intelligence and Investigations ACP Biu Matavou says a separate investigation will be conducted with regards to the issue of negligence.
ACP Matavou says they need to establish the circumstances as to why the child was allowed to walk to the shops by herself and this will be the focus of investigations.
