A man who had been charged for the alleged murder of his partner in 2009 and had absconded overseas after being given leave to obtain medical treatment has been rearrested and will be produced in the Suva Magistrates Court today.
Imshad Izraal Ali was charged with the alleged murder of his partner at their Howell Road home in Suva in 2009.
The 34-year-old kindergarten teacher was allegedly strangled to death inside her home.
The case was dismissed due to the inability to execute a long standing search warrant since Ali had absconded overseas having being given leave to obtain medical treatment.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro says through the partnership between the Indian Government and authorities as well as INTERPOL the accused was arrested and escorted back to Suva by a senior officer of the Fiji Police Force.
He has been recharged with one count of murder and will appear in court this afternoon.
