A 34‑year‑old man and a 16-year-old boy charged with one count of obtaining financial advantage by deception appeared in the Nasinu Magistrate Court.
34-year-old Praveen Kumar who is also charged with one count of impersonation has been further remanded in custody while the juvenile has been granted bail.
Both will appear again in the court next Monday.
It is alleged that on Tuesday, Kumar falsely represented himself as Pranil employed by the Land Transport Authority to a Anand Sami of Nasinu.
Kumar and the 16-year-old allegedly obtained $2,600 cash from Anand Sami with the intention of permanently depriving Sami on false promise to provide a taxi permit.
They had arranged to meet in Valelevu however prior to that police were alerted of the meeting by the victim.
The two were arrested by officers from Valelevu.
