A 34-year-old man who allegedly tried to stab his de-facto wife after throwing their sick child on a mattress has been granted bail by the Suva Magistrates Court.
The fisherman who lives in Yanuyanu Settlement in Rifle Range allegedly punched the 36-year-old woman on the head, kicked her left rib and then went out of the house, brought a fishing net floater and hit her head with it.
He then allegedly picked up a knife and tried to stab her but the defacto wife grabbed the knife.
The man allegedly assaulted the woman after she said that their child is sick because he was having affairs.
The accused is charged with one count of Assault Causing Actual Bodily Harm and one count of Criminal Intimidation.
The case will be called again on the 27th of February 2018.
