A 24-year-old mechanic Semi Lomanivola who is charged with one count of dangerous driving, one count of dangerous driving occasioning bodily harm, one count of dangerous driving occasioning death and one count of driving a motor vehicle without being a holder of a valid drivers license, appeared in the Nasinu Magistrates Court today.
A 13‑year‑old girl involved in the road accident in Cunningham passed away at the CWM hospital on Monday night.
The deceased and a Year 11 student were walking along Cunningham Road when the vehicle driven by Lomanivola swerved and hit the girls.
The prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that Lomanivola is facing serious charges.
The prosecution also requested the court that Lomanivola file a formal bail application.
Magistrate Sofia Hamza has remanded Lomanivola and the case has been adjourned to the 9th of next month for the accused to file a formal bail application.
