A 53-year-old man who is alleged to have abducted two girls aged 12 and 14 years last Saturday has been formally charged.
53‑year‑old Param Vir Maharaj was produced in court earlier this week where Police filed an affidavit for him to be kept in custody as investigations were ongoing.
He was remanded in custody.
Maharaj is now charged with the use of certain titles or descriptions prohibited, personating public officers, abduction of young persons, punishment for wrongful confinement, traffic in obscene publications and indecently insulting or annoying any person.
He will be produced at the Nasinu Magistrates Court tomorrow.
