A man charged with two counts of rape of his daughter has been acquitted by the Labasa High Court.
While delivering his judgement Judge Justice Daniel Goundar said he finds the accused not guilty as he found the complainant’s evidence that the 17-year-old was raped, not plausible for two reasons.
The first reason is she remained in the accused house after the alleged rapes and went on with her normal business doing the house chores.
Goundar said secondly the complainant had a good relationship with her elder sister, yet she gave no reasons for not complaining to her when there was opportunity to complain.
The girl lived with her adoptive parents and used to visit the accused at home after knowing that he was the biological father.
The alleged incident occurred in September last year on an island in the northern division.
