Major water issues in elevated areas of Lautoka City will soon be an issue of the past as the Water Authority of Fiji has managed to repair a major leakage on the high pressure water pipeline from the Vaturu Dam to the Nagado Water Treatment Plant.

Water Authority of Fiji Acting General Manager Operations, Sekove Uluinayau says that the leakage in a daily base causes losses to approximately one thousands liters of water.

Uluinayau adds that they have successfully installed the serviced butterfly valve which was causing the problem and the thousands of people affected daily will soon see an improvement in water supply.

Uluinayau says that repair works by the Water Authority contractors are progressing as scheduled adding that people living in the affected areas can expect water supply to be fully restored by 6am next Tuesday.

He says Water Authority of Fiji continues to cart water to the affected areas in the Lautoka area ‑ to refill the 100 water tanks which have been strategically placed as well as house to house cartage for certain areas.
