Major roadworks will commence tonight along the Princes Road from Tamavua Hill side up to the College of Medicine Nursing and Health Sciences daily between 7.30pm to 5.30am.
The Fiji Roads Authority says that Princes Road has badly failed pavements which require extensive full‑width repairs as a method of treatment.
FRA will also be removing badly deformed surfaces which have deteriorated due to their age and the high volume of traffic.
The Authority says that these works will mitigate the current road conditions in these worst affected areas and are part of the Accelerated Sealed Repairs programme.
They say that to reduce traffic congestion impacts, majority of these works will be carried out at night.
FRA will be closing the worst affected sections of Princes Road to single lane to carry out structural pavement repairs and resurfacing works.
Traffic will be managed in these areas and members of the public are requested to make their travel plans with these works in mind, avoiding this route if possible.
FRA says weather permitting these works are expected to be completed by the 28th of May, 2019.
