Major changes have taken place at the management of Fiji Television Limited where CEO, Tevita Gonelevu and Head of Content Tanya Waqanika have been replaced.
The majority shareholder of Fiji Television Limited, Fijian Holdings Limited has also announced that Gonelevu and Waqanika are no longer part of the group.
FHL Chief Executive Officer, Nouzab Fareed confirmed the current head of News and Sports, Geoffrey Smith has been appointed as the Acting CEO of Fiji TV while Manager Content, Karen Lobendahn has been appointed as the Acting Head of Content.
Fareed said they will immediately advertise these two positions and look for suitable replacements.
Fareed said the decision has been made in the interest of the company.
We asked Fareed whether this major change is to do with his earlier comments that there are some negative elements that they are aware of and they will make some comments later.
He made this comment last Friday during a press conference where it was announced that World Rugby has allowed the sub‑licensing of TV rights of its events that Fiji TV had acquired which allows FBC TV to broadcast events such as the World Sevens Series for a fee.
Fareed said the changes at Fiji TV have nothing to do with this issue.
