“A healthy 2015 should be top of the list for every Fijian “
This is according to the Ministry of Health’s National Adviser for Wellness and Non-communicable diseases, Dr Isimeli Tukana who said that every Fijian should consider a healthy dietary plan for next year.
He said that during this festive season people should choose the food they eat wisely and consider regular medical checks.
Tukana said that the Ministry of Health is not discouraging people from eating or merry making this festive season but they are initially requesting them to consume alcohol and kava responsibly and wisely.
According to statistic revealed earlier this year by the Ministry of Health, Non Communicable diseases like cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer now accounts for 80 percent of all deaths in Fiji.
29.9 percent of the Fiji population aged between 15 to 64 years is overweight while 18 percent are obese.
