Speaker of Parliament, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau today ruled that SODELPA Parliamentarian, Lynda Tabuya’s proposed End of the Week statement be removed from the Order Paper as it is contravening Standing Orders.
Tabuya was supposed to give a statement on the Air Terminal Services Board and it was intended to highlight the current status of the Air Terminal Services Board.
Ratu Epeli says the End of the Week statement contravenes Standing Orders 61, which states that when speaking a member must not refer to any matter in relation to which a judicial decision is pending.
The Speaker says given that the matter of the ATS Board is currently a matter before the Court, it is not appropriate for the proposed statement be discussed in Parliament.
