Parents, students and teachers will now be able to lodge their concerns and complaints with the Ministry of Education through two of their toll-free help lines that will be launched today.
The Minister for Education Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this is the first time that they are launching two toll free help-lines for teachers that may want to raise an issue with the Education Ministry and can dial the number 162 and for student and parent-related issues, they can dial the number 163 and both numbers will be available from today.
Sayed-Khaiyum has also highlighted that our Education system will excel when parents, teachers, and the community are engaged and committed to improving it, where children need and deserve that commitment.
Meanwhile, the Education Minister has stressed that no school has the right to turn away students that attended the same school last year for any academic reason.
This is after complaints were received that students that were in year 12 last year and now want to go to year 13 are being turned away by Principals due to the student not achieving the required marks.
The Education Minister has also urged parents that they have the right to send their children to that school.
