Registered voters can now check actual details on where they will cast their votes by checking through their mobile phones or a call center as the Fijian Elections office today released the provisional list of voters for the 2014 General Elections.
People can text their Electronic Voter Registration number to 545 from any mobile phone and they will receive their allocated polling station via a return text message.
The Elections Office has also launched their call center which will be operational from tomorrow and people can also call on 545 to get details about their polling stations.
Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem said this is in line with the Electoral Decree which requires that a person votes at a designated polling station.
About 500 voters will be allocated to a polling station and people will be allocated based on their surname.
He added that the provisional voter list will be updated on a weekly basis.
Saneem said that following the release of a provisional voter list they have 1,337 polling venues and 1,987 polling stations for September 17th General Elections.
About 570,000 people have registered to vote so far.
Voter registration will close on Monday as the Writ of Elections will also be issued on that day.
