Fashion designers around the country have been encouraged to continue use the contemporary traditional designs in their work.

Head lecturer at Sydney’s TAFE Fashion Design Studio, Nicholas Huxley has urged local designers to use the wonderful culture in Fiji to interpret their designs.

Huxley told designers to appreciate where they come and use it to their advantage.

The Australian fashion icon who has a successful career as both an artist and designer says Fiji is lucky to have designers who link fashion with their culture.

Huxley says he has been impressed with most the designs showcased in the last two days and is looking forward to helping some of our young local designers.

Meanwhile, first year Fashion and design student designer at FNU, Ilisoni Rokoyaca who showcased his label S.T.I.C.H Fiji yesterday expressed how grateful he was for being given the opportunity to take part in Fiji Fashion Week.

Rokoyaca worked with regional Fashion and design student, Kowy Tamutai who is from Papua New Guinea to set up his label S.T.I.C.H Fiji.

The Couture Show at the Fiji Fashion Week tonight will start at around 7.30pm at the Vodafone Arena.
