“Let’s not be suspicious about China or other countries."
Minister for Defence and National Security Inia Seruiratu stressed this in Parliament today after SODELPA MP Viliame Gavoka asked government to set up a forum where they can all sit as parliamentarians to fully understand the implications of the Belt and Road Initiative signed in China.
Gavoka says implications of this initiative will be significant.
In his response, Seruiratu says Fiji as a developing country needs to have trade and develop strategic partnership with all its friends.
He told the parliamentarians that the Belt and Road Initiative cooperation is about development.
The Belt and Road Initiative which Fiji is now part of, aims at building a trade and infrastructure network connecting Asia with Europe and Africa and into the South Pacific.
