Student leadership and participation means that students have an active role in decision making across the school.
This was highlighted by Kavanagasau College Principal Immanuel Prasad while speaking at the school’s Prefects Induction Ceremony.
It was also highlighted that Kavanagasau College achieved a 100% pass in the Fiji Year 13 Examinations and a 95 % pass in the Fiji Year 12 Exam in 2018 with the Head Boy, Ashwin Kumar scoring the highest mark in the year 12 exam.
Prasad stressed that they believe in enhancing the leadership skills of their students through programs that develop individual responsibility, promote independence and rewards success to enable every student to build on their confidence and to create responsible citizens.
He says that as Principal, it is a high priority to maximise student participation in school decision making processes and incorporating student views into planning related to school climate, school organisation, school improvement projects and making our school a place where students want to be.
Prasad also reminded students that fluency in English is a requirement for almost every job in Fiji and he urged students to build on their proficiency in English as this is the foundation of any student’s future as a successful citizen.
A total of 40 students were inducted as Prefects, Heads Prefects, Form Captains, Library Monitors, Bus and Carrier Monitors and Students Council Executives.
