New Zealand’s Ministry of Social Development says about 170 people will receive New Zealand superannuation or veteran's pension a year after the eligibility.
This includes people born in the Cook Islands, Niue, and Tokelau who are New Zealand residents by birth.
However, according to Work and Income, they currently need to have lived in New Zealand for at least 10 consecutive years since the age of 20 to qualify for superannuation, and at least five years since the age of 50.
