Lautoka Sugar Mill which has been ranked the number one mill by the Fiji Sugar Corporation last year has crushed a season high of 5,377 tonnes of cane in 24 hours.
FSC says that in the process, a total of 417 lorries were offloaded at the factory and this increases the average crush at the Lautoka Mill over the last five days of crushing to 4,000 tonnes of cane per day.
FSC CEO, Graham Clark says the uplift has also been possible due the continuing committed efforts of cane farmers, cane cutters and harvester operators, as well as lorry drivers to ensure that cane deliveries have been maximized.
FSC says the factory has implemented a scheduled maintenance and cleaning shut down, with a view to re‑commencing crushing later today.
