As heavy rain continues in the Central and Eastern division, we have been reports of landslides, flooding in some parts and fallen power lines.

All four lanes are closed at Beni Naiveli Farm in Veisari on the Queens Highway after a major landslide early this morning.

Police have confirmed that they have already contacted the Fiji Roads Authority on this matter.

FRA has confirmed that it’s contractors Fulton Hogan Hiways are sending gear out now to commence clearing.

Motorists on the ground have also contacted us saying that more than 80 vehicles are stuck at Beni Naiveli Hill from both ends of the road.

Some people have been stuck from 3.30 this morning.

Meanwhile a fallen tree has brought down some of the power lines near the World Harvest Centre in Kinoya.

This has caused power blackouts in parts of Caubati, Vesida and Kinoya.

FEA says they will repair the lines as soon as the weather clears.

The fallen lines have been de-energised.

We are also receiving reports of flooded roads at Father Law Home in Veisari.

Police have also started monitoring the Qauia area in Lami as the water level at Qauia Bridge is rapidly rising.

We are calling on residents to take necessary precautions.

Flood waters have also risen to about 1 metre in the Wainadoi area.

The areas affected are Wainadoi village, Wainibuabua and Wailali settlements.
