The Lami Town Council today received a brand new garbage truck from the Ministry Local Government.
The $141,000 worth truck was handed over by Attorney General and Local Government Minister, Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum.
Lami Town Council Special Administrator, Jasper Singh said the truck was bought for the council through Ministry of Local Governments challenge funds.
He said they had applied for the purchase of a garbage dump truck.
Meanwhile, Sayed-Khaiyum said all the municipal councils had to apply for the use challenge funds and they had to give specific details of their projects.
He said about $3 million has been allocated for Municipal Councils who have good proposals for projects and infrastructure development.
