Lal wins first gold medal for Vishnu Deo Memorial School

Avikash Lal of Vishnu Deo Memorial School from Lautoka won gold in a great race in the 3,000 metres boy’s event this morning

Lekima Regu of Ratu Luke Memorial took the silver medal while Pegasus Woodley took bronze for Natabua.

Avikash Lal said he wakes up at 3am to train for an hour and then helps his dad in the farm before he goes to school every morning.

He said getting gold in the 3,000 metres event is a good start for his preparation for the Pacific Games in July in Papua New Guinea.

Meanwhile, the 3,000 metres Girl’s Open Event gold medal went to Maria Berenadeta of Waidina Secondary School from Naitasiri this morning.

Sereana Nai of Vaturova Koroalau took the silver while Vasenai Ratu of Jasper took home the bronze.
