A former employee of Water Authority of Fiji appeared in the Suva Magistrates court charged with corruption related offences.
The former Land Acquisition Officer of Water Authority of Fiji, Laisiasa Valesu is charged with a count each of abuse of office, forgery and obtaining a financial advantage.
It is alleged that Valesu facilitated the processing of false payments of $334,496.18 as claims for Crop and Land Compensation for the Muanikau 5G Project and Nabukalou project.
Valesu was allegedly helped by another person who has been charged with one count of aiding and abetting to obtain a financial advantage.
Pauliasi Waite Simione is alleged to have aided Valesu to commit the offence and obtained a financial advantage of $26,402.38.
The offence occurred between 1st June 2013 and 31st May 2016 in Suva.
Magistrate Asanga Bodaragama has granted them bail with two sureties who have signed a surety bond of $1000.
Both men have opted to be tried at the Magistrates Court however FICAC have objected and have asked the case to be transferred to the Suva High Court.
Magistrate Bodaragama will make a ruling on the 20th of this month.
