A 32-year-old man of Labasa has received a suspended sentenced by the Labasa Magistrates Court for falsifying documents and obtaining financial advantage of $5,479.84.
He is sentenced for 16 months imprisonment which is suspended for 36 months.
Asivurusi Taganeredina was charged with one count of Falsification of Documents and two counts of Obtaining Financial advantage by Deception.
He has also been ordered to pay a fine of $2,800 within 90 days.
On the 4th of April in 2012, Taganeredina had falsified a quotation for Bula Re Snack Bar that was part of a project proposal namely “ Tobacco Control Enforcement Unit - Northern Division Tobacco Free Settings Declaration 2012" with the intention of obtaining a gain namely the sum of $2,700 from the Ministry of Health.
He had also between 4th of April and 26TH of April 2012 engaged in a conduct namely falsifying a quotation for Bula Re Snacks Bar and submitting a quotation of Veilomani Club that were part of a project proposal namely “ Tobbaco Control Enforcement Unit - Northern Division Tobacco Free Settings Declaration 2012" and as result of that conduct obtained a financial advantage of $2,295 for himself knowing that he is not eligible to receive the said financial advantage.
Taganeredina had also between 4th of April and 8th of May 2012 submitted a quotation obtained from Total Fiji Limited as part of the same project proposal and a cashed cheque which was supposed to be paid to Total Fiji Limited and as result obtained an advantage of $484.84.
He had pleaded guilty to the charges.
