The Land Transport Authority will not be regulating mini bus fares any time soon.
LTA spokesperson Iliesa Sokia said the Authority is placing the responsibility on the Fiji Mini Buses Association to determine its fares.
Fiji Minibuses Association General Secretary Epineri Waqabaca said the drivers are happy with the current fare charges.
Fijivillage has observed that by 6pm, minibus drivers are charging passengers $10 which is a $3 increase from the normal fare from Suva to Pacific Harbour or Navua.
Some drivers are charging $5 before 6pm or $10 after 6pm.
When Waqabaca was questioned on this he said drivers have the right to increase the fare after the bus operating hours to cover for the seats they may not be able to fill whilst loading passengers at the base.
