LTA issues stern warning to bus drivers that it is an offense to take cash from a passenger

The Land Transport Authority says drivers are not allowed to use their personal cards to swipe for passengers and receive money in return.

Board Chairman, Vijay Maharaj says under the e‑ticketing amended regulation 2017, any bus driver found to be collecting cash will be fined $150.

Maharaj adds bus operators must ensure that disposable bus cards are available for sale at all times on any bus.

Bus operators commit an offence if they do not carry disposable cards in the bus for which a fine of $1,000 applies.
